With sustained demand for hotel rooms in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and GO Zone incentives available, the Hattiesburg Convention Commission is seeking proposals for tourism-related development on the campus of the Lake Terrace Convention Center.  Available land (up to 8 acres) is in the northwest corner of the convention center site adjacent to Interstate 59 and highly visible from US Highway 49.  The site is across the parking lot from the Convention Center and adjacent to the Hattiesburg Visitors Center.  In addition to easy access from both highways, the site location also offers high visibility to convention traffic as well as visitor center traffic.

The Lake Terrace Convention Center is appropriately identified as "Mississippi's Premier Meeting Facility" and has been named "Best of the Best" by readers of ConventionSouth Magazine for the past two years.  The facility hosts a significant number of statewide and regional meetings and conventions, and is a strong draw for continuing education events due to the presence of local universities.  Other significant users include the association market, government and corporate meetings.

Hattiesburg is the retail, medical and educational hub for South Mississippi and one of the fastest growing areas in the state.  With a metropolitan population of 145,000 and a retail trade area of more than 300,000, Hattiesburg, a Certified Retirement City, prides itself on the quality of life enjoyed by residents.   Home to the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University, the area enjoys a wide range of arts, sporting and cultural events.  A diverse light manufacturing sector and Camp Shelby (an active Army mobilization base) round out the business community that keeps Hattiesburg's economy strong.
